OUR STAFF
Deva
Parnell, E-RYT500, founder and director of Discovery Yoga, is
a certified professional
level Kripalu Yoga teacher. She has been a yoga instructor
and
teacher-trainer since the 1970's and has trained more than 2500 yoga
teachers. A Kripalu Center resident and senior
program teacher (1983-1995),
she
developed many of Kripalu's core yoga programs and
has
been instrumental
in the development of Kripalu Yoga and Kripalu
Yoga Teacher Training. As
Sadhana Acharya, she
coordinated daily
yoga practice and yoga education for the 350-member resident staff. Deva has
produced a variety of audio yoga experiences for home practice,
published yoga
teacher training manuals, and has written articles on yoga for national
publications. After
leaving her position
as director, coordinator
and curriculum developer
of Kripalu
Yoga Teacher Training, she
began training teachers through Discovery
Yoga. Her 200-hour program
is recognized by Kripalu Center as a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher
Training program. She has also developed a 500-hour program which
includes a faculty of world-class teachers. Deva's
detailed, intuitive teaching style
reflects the
depth of her personal practice and her many years of study and training
in a variety of yoga traditions, both in the U.S. and in India.

Christopher
Baxter, E-RYT500, RA – is both a
registered professional architect and master yoga educator with more
than 30 years experience. The author of
"Kripalu Hatha Yoga" and for 20 years, a founding member of Kripalu
Center, he was founding director of the Kripalu Yoga Teachers
Association and Director of Yoga Development. Instrumental in the
development of Kripalu Yoga, Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training and the Yoga
Alliance - the national accrediting affiliation for Yoga Teachers and
Training Schools, he is now Director of Training for the 500-hour
Teacher Certification Program at Discovery Yoga Center. atmacoreyoga@gmail.com

Eryn
Boudreau, RYT, is a physical therapist with
over 20 years experience working with a variety of patients
including children with cerebral palsy and downs syndrome, adults with
chronic pain, and stroke patients. She is trained in craniosacral
therapy, myofacial release, lower extremity biomechanics, and
neuro-developmental treatment (NDT) of children. Eryn is certified
Kripalu Yoga instructor, and has
trained with master
teacher Deva Parnell, Stephanie Keach in
vinyasa flow, and Christopher Baxter in AtmaYoga. She utilizes her manual physical therapy skills and experience with yoga
practices to compassionately guide students and patients on an individual holistic
path towards improved health and well-being. Eryn enjoys teaching yoga
to all levels of students from athletes to students with specific
neuromuscular difficulties. In addition to teaching group classes, she
works with students individually and serves on the Yoga Teacher Training staff.

Anita Sanci, E-RYT500,
is a
certified Kripalu Yoga
and Kripalu YogaDance
Teacher. She
is
a
former
professional dancer, gymnist and choreographer with a lifetime of
teaching and performing experience. Anita has studied extensively in
New
York City with world-class master teachers, and managed her own dance
academy. Her specialties include children's gymnastics & yoga, and
partner work which
includes partner yoga, acrobatic adagio and pas de deux. Her strong
dance background is reflected in her yoga classes. At Discovery Yoga,
Anita served for many years on the Yoga Teacher Training staff, and was
director of DYTA (Discovery Yoga Teachers Alliance) for five years. She
is
founder/director of NATANANDA!
YogaDance Company.

Hugh
White, RYT, a yoga
practitioner for over 20
years, is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher specializing in gentle yoga. He is often assisted by his therapy dog, Leela.

Rita Pendergast, RYT, a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher,
came
to yoga out of the joy of movement. She has been practicing yoga since
1999. Finding yoga to be an exceptional system for self-improvement,
Rita's intention is to help others attain the many benefits yoga offers
through a consistent personal practice. She continues to study all
aspects of yoga through various teachers and styles.

Arla
Larson, RYT-500,
has been a student and practitioner of yoga for over 16 years. She
began her formal yoga training and study with Deva Parnell at Discovery
Yoga in the Kripalu tradition, and has completed her 500-hour
certification. She is also a certified Yin Yoga and Tai Chi
instructor. Learning and studying with a variety of authentic yoga
teachers and masters, Arla is passionate about sharing a blend of
these various forms of movement into a fluid, meditative mind/body
experience.

Lisa Brock, RYT, found yoga in college and has
been
practicing ever since. The experiential aspect of the practice is what
drew her in. The feeling of being grounded and centered and at the same
time open, receptive, plugged in to the current of life. In 2001 Lisa
began to deepen her understanding and knowledge of the practice and
became a certified Kripalu yoga instructor. Lisa has taught over 3500
hours in many settings and styles…corporate, schools, retreats, studio
(co-founder, The Core Yoga & Pilates) private…Hatha, Hatha Flow,
Hot Vinyasa, Restorative and Prenatal. Lisa’s teaching style combines
elements of proper posture alignment, mindful movement & breath
with an intention of devotion to the universal energy of love that
unites us all…The Heart of Yoga.

Sheryl Anderson,
RYT, LMHC, has been practicing yoga since about 1999. She has enjoyed
teaching Sunrise Yoga Classes since receiving her Kripalu
Yoga Teacher certification from Discovery Yoga in 2005. Currently, she
is studying for her 500-hour certification and enjoying recent
retirement status that allows for connections with family members in
the area, swimming several times a week in a lap pool, and photo shoots
as a “senior model”.

Naorah Lockhart, RYT, is
a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher and has practiced yoga since 1993.
Naorah is deeply moved by the potential of yoga to balance, heal, and
liberate the mind and body. A licensed massage therapist since 1998,
Naorah has worked with everyone from elite athletes to infants; and
integrates her knowledge of bodywork, movement and breath into her
classes in a relaxed and accessible way. She is also a certified
Pilates instructor and specializes in Thai Yoga Massage.

Meghan Cooney, RYT is a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor
with a strong personal practice. She also manages Discovery Yoga's retail shop and front desk.

Beverly Jund, RYT is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher and
enjoys the peaceful, grounded feeling that comes from Yoga. When
Beverly moved to Florida 12 years ago, she was fortunate to practice
Yoga with Joan Ryan and is truly grateful for Joan and Deva Parnell's
mentoring, training and love. Beverly is also a certified Pilates
instructor and enjoys photography, knitting, and working part-time at
lululemon athletica.

Kelley W. Barrigar,RYT,
M.Ed, is a certified Kripalu Yoga instructor who embraces the Kripalu
concept of the Yoga of compassion, taking a body/mind/spirit approach
to her teaching. She has been practicing yoga since
1994, when as a single mother, she realized the need for
mindfulness, patience, love and appreciation of each life situation
as a opportunity to learn. A seventh-grade Geography and European History teacher, Kelley strives to
inspire her students
with a thirst for knowledge, and a desire to create a
positive presence in the world. Working toward a
Psychology Doctorate in Sports and Performance, she takes every
oportunity to further her knowledge of yoga, nutrition, and holistic wellness. Kelley is owner of
RADIANT ENERGY YOGA
AND FITNESS. Her joy for her practice shines
through her teaching style in the classroom, in the yoga studio, and in
simply walking in the Spirit of
Yoga!

Suzanne Tonkinson,
RYT, a certified
Kripalu Yoga Teacher, comes from a background as a physical fitness and
aerobics
instructor. A life-long student of yoga with an ever-increasing
appreciation for the balance and wholeness of the practice, she
embraces yoga as a gift that she feels passionate about sharing with
others. Believing that our greatest teacher lies within, Suzanne's
intention is to provide an atmosphere of self-acceptance and
affirmation to open a path for self-discovery. Suzanne serves on the Yoga Teacher Training staff.
