Joan E. Ryan, E-RYT-500,
IYT1000 began her journey as a practitioner, teacher and healer in 1972. She
empowers individuals and groups to take control of their bodies, minds and
lives while improving their overall wellness. As a Wellness Mentor Joan uses many
different practices to inspire and empower students to find inner balance and
joy. These practices offered one-on-one and to groups include Integrative Yoga
Therapeutics, Ayurvedic-Assessment and Consultations with individually prepared
wellness plans of action, stress management, meditation and guided imagery. She
offers Reiki Trainings and Treatments. Reiki Treatments are part of her Radiant
Wellness practice. Joan developed and teaches many special interest programs
and lessons to address challenges such as anxiety, chronic back pain, Multiple
Sclerosis, insomnia and irritable bowel syndrome. She finds special joy in
working with “seniors”. Joan is Program Director for a Integrative Yoga
Therapy teacher training program. She also is a mentor with Integrative Yoga
Therapy and adjunct faculty with Discovery Yoga. Joan is a contributor to
articles in nationally syndicated magazines. Joan teaches workshops and
programs including “How to Thrive in a Stressed out World” and “Happy Healthy
Back & Neck Yoga” for Radiant Wellness at businesses, schools, conferences
and not-for-profit organizations. Joan services are available for in-service
trainings, conferences and conventions. She volunteers her time for educational
workshops and lectures at hospitals, hospice, cancer and other support groups. Joan
and her husband enjoy the outdoors hiking, birding and bicycling. They
participate in annual silent meditation retreats.

Nearly everyone
knows someone with scoliosis. In adults scoliosis can
produce symptoms of chronic back and other pain, decreased lung
capacity, muscle tightness, fatigue, tingling and numbness. Yoga is a
powerful way to reduce scoliosis symptoms. This one day workshop
teaches how to use Yoga Therapeutics to address the 4 major scoliosis
curves. Both yoga students and teachers* can employ these tools to
foster better overall health and wellness for the whole person. This
program includes yoga techniques, anatomy & physiology and
methodology. There will be a practicum for the participants to
experience and reinforce learning.
This one day workshop includes:
- Basic information about Scoliosis.
- Anatomy and understanding of the 4 Major
Scoliosis Curves.
- Yoga Therapeutics for scoliosis- lengthening
the spine, stretching tight muscles, strengthening muscles that have
become weak.
- Creating more balance and harmony in the body
and mind.
- Case Studies.
- Lesson plan development for private yoga
sessions.
Students will receive a Resource list.
